Julia (Miss Julie) Walker is a Speech-Language Pathologist with 28 years of experience. Miss Julie is certified in DIR Floortime and Natural Language Acquisition (NLA). These effective therapy approaches are developmental in nature as well as child-led, play-based, and relational. The NLA certification allows Julie to specialize in working with kids who use echolalia and scripting for children who are considered gestalt language processors. Her goal for each child and their family is to help shape functional, communicators...and to have fun as they "work"! She also believes that involving parents and caregivers is crucial to the success a child will have in therapy. Sensory play and activities for regulation is an important part of her therapy approach as well. Miss Julie has recently become certified in sensory regulation.
Julie graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University and taught for six years before returning to graduate school to pursue a master's degree at Western Michigan University in Speech-Language Pathology. She has worked in early intervention as a First Steps provider, in a private clinic as a lead preschool teacher and in outpatient clinics as well. Miss Julie remains passionate about her clients and enjoys learning new information and staying up to date regarding best practices to tailor therapy for each of her clients individually.
